| This course is aimed at helping you develop your leadership potential. Concepts taught in this course are based on research that has identified seven ways in which the language used by leaders encourages commitment in others.
Through a number of interactive exercises you will master skills in these seven areas so that you can lead others effectively. You will learn how to communicate in a more positive, optimistic, and empowering manner to help encourage commitment and self-confidence in others.
Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course you should be able to:
- Use positive speech at work.
- Describe behavior without generalizing about attitudes, motives, or personality traits.
- Explain a setback in optimistic terms.
- Define empowerment as it applies to state government and describe the importance of empowering front-line workers.
- Use questions to empower workers.
- Use “invitational” speech.
