HELP II: Workplace Violence Assessment & Prevention (2 Days)

This course provides you with an in-depth view of the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act and an employer responsibilities in relation to violent issues in the workplace. You will learn new tools for assessing threats in the workplace and skill sets to prevent violence from occurring.
    Threat assessment will be learned through case studies of real situations. This class will also address issues of how domestic violence affects the workplace and your role in addressing these issues. You will address difficult real life safety issues, and learn your obligation under the law.

      Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course you should be able to:

      • Assess threatening workplace situations and handle them effectively.
      • Balance customer service, safety, and security needs.
      • Apply workplace violence avoidance strategies to a variety of work situations.
      • Understand when domestic violence becomes a workplace issue.
      • Know the legal obligation when responding to a workplace violence or domestic violence situation.

      Competencies covered in this class: Safety, observation inspection, problem recognition

        Intended Audience: Public sector supervisors, managers and HR professionals.
