U of W IT Security Certificate Program (13 Days)
01-04-T669

Society has become dependent on secure operation of global information systems and communications networks. Increasingly society has become vulnerable to a broad range of deliberate and unintentional disruptions in the management of these complex infrastructures. Viruses, attacks on Internet service providers, and the theft of code from public and private organizations has demonstrated the vulnerability of these systems. These vulnerabilities come from both inside and outside the organization. Experts estimate these disruptions cost industry billions of dollars yearly.

This course will provide you with a historical context for the study of data and Internet security and the evolution of security. You will examine different systems, vulnerabilities and threats and will be introduced to basic data security strategies and practices including administrative, cryptographic and authentication-based techniques. You can use this program to prepare for a majority of topics covered in the CISSP exam.

This IT Security Certificate Program will be held every other Monday starting in October 2009 and ending in June 2010. Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate.
