Position Description:
In a training capacity, provides vocational rehabilitation services by assisting customers with a disability to become employed. With guidance and supervision, gathers the necessary information to determine eligibility for services, conducting vocational assessments to assist customers to develop a vocational goal and assisting customers to develop an Individual Plan for Employment to reach their employment goal. Graduate interns will carry a small caseload of customers.
Additional projects may include: facilitating job seeking groups, serving as part of an eligibility team, conducting vocational assessment testing, job placement, employer marketing or other projects assigned by the office supervisor. Such projects will require the graduate intern to use counseling skills, vocational assessment skills and the ability to work with customers with multiple and severe disabilities. Each graduate intern will develop a training and mentoring plan with their supervisor.
Desirable Qualifications:
The preferred candidate should have completed at least one year of a graduate level program in vocational rehabilitation counseling. Experience in working in a vocational rehabilitation setting is highly desirable. Desirable knowledge, skills and abilities include ability to plan, synthesize information, manage multiple priorities and counsel and communicate information to persons with a disability. Knowledge of vocational aspects of disabling conditions is desirable.
