Diversity and Equal Opportunity

The Department of Personnel publishes a monthly Diversity Activities Calendar on-line to highlight events and keep the human resource community abreast of developments. Detailed information regarding organizations that are involved in promoting the state diversity program is also provided. The Washington State Affirmative Action Program is operated by the Department of Personnel in close and continuing coordination with the Governor’s Affirmative Action Policy Committee (GAAPCom). Affirmative Action Guidelines as well as an annual report are available from the GAAPCom. Detailed instructions regarding Affirmative Action Plan Preparation, to include data and resources available, is provided to Washington State affirmative action planners. Also, the previously used Affirmative Action Software program remains available to interested parties for their completion of the workforce analysis portion of affirmative action planning. The Workforce Diversity office also provides Reasonable Accommodation of disability in the employment application process and on the job.
