State Officials' Salaries

What sets State Officials' Salary maximums?
RCW 43.03.028 established the Office of the State HR Director (OSHRD) jurisdiction to administer the State Officials' Salaries. In this capacity OSHRD determines the grade level and maximum salary paid to the positions under its authority. The majority of the positions under OSHRD authority are executive positions appointed by the Governor.

What is the process?
The requesting agency completes the position description form and forwards to the Compensation Mailbox for further review and action.

OSHRD staff maintains the following:

  • State Officials' Position Description Form
  • Governor Appointed State Officials' Salaries Listing

Periodic salary studies are also conducted by OSHRD to determine the competitiveness of executive salaries and their salary structure.
