The Department of Personnel’s goal is to help build a state workforce where people

As the central human resource agency for the state, we provide a full range of human resource services to state agencies, higher education institutions, state employees, and—in some instances—to other public sector and non-profit organizations.

We put ourselves in the shoes of the managers who call us in need of help. We help them hire and maintain a workforce dedicated to delivering quality services to the people of Washington State. And we help find and develop our future state leaders.
